Research Contribution: Evaluating Human-Elephant Conflict Mitigation in Assam
Poonam Kumari (ISI Delhi Alumnus) presented her research on the effectiveness of anti-depredation squads in reducing human-elephant conflict in Assam at the 5th Annual CECFEE Research & Policy Workshop held at Tezpur University in November 2019.
Her study utilized 20 years of geo-coded data on human and elephant interactions to analyze whether these intervention measures effectively mitigate conflicts. This research was part of the workshop organized by the Centre for Research on the Economics of Climate, Food, Energy, and Environment (CECFEE), Indian Statistical Institute (ISI).
